'Bulldog' was stopped in brutal fashion during the final minute of his long-awaited bout with 'The Shootfighter'.
Ubaha Martin was visibly powerful and dominant from the get-go but it was Mooney's advantageous positioning and tactical application of locking techniques that kept the Bulldog on the back foot for the majority of the fight.
The defining moment of the match came when Mooney countered Ubaha's grappling game into an excrutiating elbow/shoulder lock that would have ripped Ubaha's tendons and may well have popped his shoulder. The Bulldog went down but not without a fight. CADC officials called for a forfeit (which would have saw the title disputed further without a winner) but ultimately the decision lay with the Nigerian champion who refused to forfeit. Mooney capitalised with a heel hook, half boston crab leg submission and an already waning Bulldog was unable to hold out against the pain for the remaining minute, with no option but to tap out.
The capacity crowd in attendance at Rivals Sports Arena was ecstatic with enormous support emanating from each wing in support of the championship competitors.
